Now that Prototype Training Systems is operating classes and training sessions indoors and outdoors, we wanted to share with you our simple system and procedure around COVID-19. As transparency and active communication are important to us at Prototype, the more information we arm you with the better off you will be!

While we are doing everything in our power to maintain the cleanest facility in the area and abide by the procedures set forth by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the CDC guidelines , it’s important to have a process in the event of potential COVID-19 exposure.

That’s why I am writing this blog post today to share with you our process in the event of a worst-case scenario.

Before I get into this, I believe we are all aware at this point of the best practices around preventing COVID-19, but if you aren’t please review that information below:

As a reminder, common COVID-19 symptoms are (but not limited to):

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of Breath
  • Sore Throat
  • Loss of taste or smell

What to do if you have signs and symptoms of COVID-19

  1. If you start to experience signs and symptoms of COVID-19, DO NOT RETURN TO THE PHYSICAL LOCATION OF THE GYM UNTIL CLEARED BY A DOCTOR OR UNTIL SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS GO AWAY (10-14 DAYS).
  2. Contact your doctor or health professional immediately to schedule a test OR immediately go to a testing site.
  3. Contact the owner or head coach to communicate with them about your signs and symptoms or a positive test.
    1. Communicate with them when you started to experience symptoms.
      1. The owner or Head Coach will review our COVID-19 Exposure Questionnaire with you to gain further understanding.
    2. Your history of exposure to people within the organization or members.
      1. Tell them everyone who you were in contact with over the past 72 hours and when.
  4. Self Quarantine for 10-14 days (or per doctors’ orders) with no exposure to others.
  5. Communicate with Prototype Head Coach prior to your return to exercise.

What Prototype management does if a team member or client has signs and symptoms of COVID-19 and tests positive

  1. Communicate with the individual who has had either a.) a positive COVID-19 test OR b.) that is experiencing signs and symptoms of COVID-19.
  2. Instruct them to get tested (if they haven’t) or to self-quarantine for at least 10-14 days.
  3. Gather a list of the individuals who were OR potentially were exposed to the infected member/team member (fill out COVID Exposure Form )
    • In the event of exposure, immediately communicate with those specific individuals about the exposure risk. CALL THEM, EMAIL AND TEXT.
    • Send out a mass communication to staff and members about what is going on
      • Email
      • Private Facebook Group
  4. Head Coach immediately gets coverage for infected team members classes or training sessions for the next 10-14 days.
  5. The gym and equipment are immediately and thoroughly deep cleaned and disinfected by our cleaning service. The indoor training component of our facility will be shut down until that deep cleaning occurs.

Communication is incredibly important to us. So bottom line, if you aren’t feeling well stay home. Participate in one of our virtual classes for a bit. If your signs and symptoms progress, make sure you get tested at one of the locations near you. Here is a link to the COVID-19 sitemap for your reference.

At the end of the day, if someone comes to Prototype and finds out that they have been exposed, we will let you know ASAP and specifically communicate with those people who may have had direct exposure ( Contact tracing will be completed! ) to the individual.

Our priority is keeping you safe and always to be transparent!

Now stay safe and if you don’t feel well, stay put!

Mark has been an amazing member, friend, and a huge part of our community for over 10 years. With his family now training at Prototype as well, he continues to share his journey and inspire others. Thank you for being you, Mark—you truly deserve to be our October POM! 1.) Share your experience at Prototype My experience at Prototype is now, and always has been over the last decade plus, incredibly positive! What’s made it even more special over the recent years is my family now being part of the community, and being positively impacted by the environment that Prototype creates. 2.) What is your favorite part about being at Prototype? The community, the relationships, and the positive impact Prototype has had on me and my family over the years. Some of my best friends are now at Prototype. Relationships that have been developed over years of doing tough workouts together, competitions and events inside & outside the gym, golf trips and get togethers. The youth programs and remote coaching programs have also allowed my family to be members of the community which is incredibly important to my wife and I. 3.) What are your hobbies and activities? Pretty much anything outside. But lots of golf, hiking, and sports with my kids. 4.) How has Prototype helped you or solved a problem for you? This would be a long list! One example would be dealing with setbacks. I’ve learned fitness is a long journey, not just a one size fits all fix. There's lots of turns and detours on that journey. Being here for so long my body and my abilities have adapted over time. With all the different things Prototype has to offer, and coaches that are so committed to the members, I’ve continued to be able to find a path forward regardless of the set back of change in my abilities. Another example would be resiliency. Stay on path isn’t easy, especially when that path seems like it never ends. Through Prototype, and side programs I’m part through Prototype, I’ve been building the resiliency muscles which has had a huge impact on my personal health & life as well as my professional life. 5.) What are you continuing fitness goals to this point? -Continue to do hard things. Put something in the calendar each year that kinda scares me and I have to work toward. I want this to be a physical and mental challenge. -Rebuild the strength in my legs, and work towards squatting again. This may require a setback, but something I really want. -Build more muscle! 6.) I subsequently joined with a few of my teammates and have continued to train with them. 2.) What is your favorite part about being at Prototype? I love having a community that is always there to help me out, answer any questions I have, and offer support. 3.) What are your hobbies and activities? I play soccer for Westborough High School and Bayside FC, I also train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and am a black belt in Krav Maga. 4.) How has Prototype helped you or solved a problem for you? Through Prototype I have learned so much about the relationship between training and recovery, which has helped me to perform my best consistently! 5.) What are you continuing fitness goals to this point? Through Prototype I am pairing soccer with conditioning training and recovery to try and improve physical fitness and performance in the game. 6.)
