THRIVE 52 Challenge!

A poster that says thrive schedule starting 1/4

This year THRIVE is coming back REMIXED and REVAMPED to bring you even BETTER RESULTS!  READ THROUGH THE WHOLE e-mail to see the new THRIVE class schedule AND to find out what the hype is all about with the new THRIVE System.

Watch the THRIVE 52 Challenge video below!

We have created a formal system that focuses on the 3 different energy systems- Aerobic, Lactic-Acid AND Anaerobic. Each of these is important in reaching your full potential as an athlete.

Thrive Programming will be designed to help you attack your weaknesses and further accelerate your strengths. This systematic and progressive program will track your workouts.

You’ll know exactly what you need to improve on AND where you have excelled the most! We encourage all athletes to participate in the THRIVE 52 CHALLENGE.

We believe that 1-2 Thrive workouts a week will increase your stamina and provide you a competitive edge. Actually, we don’t just believe it, we’ve seen it!

Athletes who participated in thrive this year saw a 23% increase in performance on average. Now, we all know about newbie gains… this is not the 23% increase I am talking about. Many of the athletes who consistently showed up to Thrive were hungry, they worked their butts off they got some MAJOR RESULTS!

Some of the progress we saw this year:

  • We had one shave their 5k run from 26 minutes to 22 minutes
  • Another with a mile time from 7:30 down to 6:45.
  • A person new to group fitness row their first 10k!
  • Many with a sub 2 minute 500 meter row!

These are just some of the examples of how THRIVE helped people level up. ARE YOU READY TO LEVEL UP!? READ ON for how you can reap the benefits with our THRIVE 52 Challenge!

The first year of THRIVE kicked off last Fall and after a year of consistency these athletes have seen major results! The key word? CONSISTENCY! THRIVE 52 is a 52 week challenge. EACH MONDAY a THRIVE Benchmark workout will be released. Participants can show up and complete it in a MONDAY THRIVE CLASS OR have until Sunday at 5pm to complete it on their own time.

This means ANYONE can participate in the challenge. All you have to do is add your results to Wodify for the challenge of the day. Do you CrossFit Monday-Friday? Consider dropping into THRIVE 1x/week OR complete the workout over the weekend.  I promise, you won’t regret it. At the end of the year the athletes who never missed a benchmark workout will be added to the THRIVE 52 Leaderboard. This takes consistency, drive and dedication but it’s totally doable.

What is this energy system thing all about?

Simply put, Thrive helps you build a better engine. THRIVE workouts are based on the 3 energy systems

  • aerobic system
  • lacti c acid system
  • anaerobic system

The aerobic system-

Think of the aerobic system as our default. This is where oxygen is readily available and your body uses carbs and fat as fuel. Walking around all day we are in this system. We are also primarily using this system when we do endurance events.

The Lactic Acid System-

Think of this as the in-betweener. When you are pushing it to an intensity that is high,  your body will reach a state where it has to switch energy systems to accommodate for oxygen debt. Simply speaking, your body can’t keep up with the demands being placed on it so it gets assistance. We see this in 2-3 minute bursts of intensity… think of this as a 500 meter row.

The Anaerobic System- ATP-CP

Think of this as your short burst and fast acting system. Flip a tire? YUP. Sprint 50-100 meters? YOU GOT IT! For this energy system we don’t use oxygen and instead rely on creatine phosphate for fuel.

Putting it all together

Most functional fitness workouts have all 3 energy systems going at once. It’s pretty complex. THRIVE targets certain energy systems more than others in specific workouts and uses

– Agility (Think plate jumps)

– Speed (Think 100 meter sprints)

– Power (Think tire flips)

– Endurance (Think 5ks)

– Reaction Time (Shuttles)

– Strength (Think squats)

– Core (Think hollow holds and L-Hangs)

and so much more to target these in different ways

And how will this help me?

We have seen people who consistently take THRIVE classes have their stamina through the roof because they have become well rounded athletes. Speed and agility training in addition to all the core work helps prevent injury. The phasic training allows for focus blocks and before you know it you’re seeing PR after PR.

If you don’t believe me go head to head with Nicole M, Dan and Wendy in Death By Burpees, they consistently showed up and got into round 17/18.

SO…. are you ready to level up? Commit to the process of becoming your best self and send me a message to let me know you’re IN!

Let’s GO!

Sharang is a standout part of the Prototype community—steady, positive, and always putting in the work—and his commitment to consistency, camaraderie, and long-term progress makes him a perfect example of what PTS is all about. Below he answers some questions and shares his experience. Share your experience at Prototype—favorite memories, moments, or stories or what’s your favorite part/what do you look forward to? What stands out most about Prototype is the camaraderie. The members, especially in the 7AM and Noon classes, create a great balance of fun and focus. Everyone is friendly and supportive, but when it’s time to work, people take the WODs seriously and push themselves to improve. That combination can be hard to find. All the coaches play a huge role in setting that tone. My favorite moments are the everyday ones i.e. showing up, putting in the work together, leaving class feeling accomplished. What I look forward to most is continuing to train alongside people who genuinely enjoy the process and want to get better. “Because summer’s coming.” Who at Prototype has made the biggest impact on you and why? As a dad of two young daughters, the people who’ve made the biggest impact on me at Prototype are the women in the gym. They all train with confidence, strength, consistency and set a powerful example. It’s the kind of environment I hope my daughters grow up seeing where strength is normal and earned. What are your hobbies and activities outside the gym? I dabble a bit in photography, star gazing and love to travel. Playing atrocious golf. How has Prototype helped you or solved a problem for you? Prototype has helped me stay active. There’s a real sense of happiness and accomplishment after each workout, and that feeling has become addictive in the best way. Knowing I’ll leave class feeling stronger, physically and mentally, keeps me coming back. Prototype has turned working out from something I should do into something I genuinely want to do, which has made a huge difference in maintaining a sustainable fitness routine. What are your current fitness goals? Steady progress and longevity. If I can keep lifting, moving well, and feeling good years from now, I’ll consider that a win. I hope my future self will thank my present self. Favorite Quote If you can’t explain it simply you don't understand it well enough.
