Rob with the 7AM crew — the people he credits for getting him out of bed every morning
Come for the Fitness. Stay for the Community.
Rob Scannevin joined Prototype in April 2019 and has quietly built one of the most consistent training records in the gym — 663 training days over nearly seven years, through a pandemic, through the natural ebb and flow of life, and through a steady, deliberate commitment to getting better. At 56, he’s not slowing down. He just bench pressed a career PR in February 2026.
Our coaches hand-select each Prototype of the Month based on work ethic, effort, attendance, and the overall energy someone brings to the gym. Rob earns this recognition in every category — and the 7AM crew would be the first to tell you why.
In Rob’s Own Words
What’s your favorite memory or moment at the gym?
“I love the group fitness events, especially ones that honor our veterans and the sacrifices they have made. Doing Murph always feels special, both in honoring Michael Murphy and coming together as a community.
This past Thanksgiving was particularly emotional and memorable when Tony coached and shared Murph’s story at the start of class. His personal perspective as a veteran brought the narrative to a different level and was incredibly moving.”
Who at Prototype has been most transformative for you?
“Coach Jon has had a significant impact on me. His programming, the energy he brings to coaching every day, and always being an advocate and positive motivator keeps me coming in and striving to get better.
Coach Tony has also been amazing. He has coached me to strength gains over the past few months that I didn’t think I was capable of achieving. He genuinely gets so excited and energized by our progress even more than his own — that tells you all you need to know about his character.
Finally, I’m incredibly grateful for the community at Prototype, especially the 7:00 AM crew. They are all a huge part of what gets me out of bed and in class every day. Come for the fitness program, but stay for the community! ”
What are your hobbies and activities outside Prototype?
“Outside the gym, I love watching my daughter play lacrosse at Hamilton College and around the northeast. I’m also into woodworking — doing small and large projects and making furniture. I also enjoy getting out on the golf course when I can.”
How has training here changed your day-to-day life?
“Getting into more of a regular schedule at Prototype and working out in the morning definitely sets me up to be more productive during the day. I also feel it has improved my self-discipline across multiple areas of my life.”
What are you training toward right now?
“Building strength and general endurance. I want to be able to do a full Murph this year — no scaling. ”
From the data: Rob has completed full Murph twice — 45:00 in November 2023 and 42:20 in May 2024. He’s been chipping away at it methodically for years. The goal is well within reach.
What 7 Years of Data Says About Rob

90 lbs added since first recorded, career best set in 2024. Six consecutive Open seasons completed along the way.
225 lb — a career best set this year. 2024 was his highest-volume year ever at 134 days. No signs of stopping.
